Join the students' "Fastest Bean Competition"! Germination and growth are a wondrous and silent natural phenomenon. But we are bringing them into the spotlight! Take some bean seeds and plant them in soil (Day 0). After two and four weeks (Days 14 and 28), check how tall the plants have grown. Measure their height, take photos, and post your updates on your school's social media channel. #greencoolschools #fastestbeancompetition - Who has the fastest-growing bean? If you want to win, do your research beforehand: What varieties of beans are there, and which ones grow quickly? What growing conditions do beans need? What makes for a good location? And so on. You can also ask people who have a garden - or even your parents, grandparents, or your biology teacher! If you are running this activity at school, consider how you will care for the plants over the summer break.
